From Al Bawaba:
Royal fans were sent into a frenzy after the Duchess of Cambridge stepped out in a dress that looked just like one worn by Princess Diana yesterday.
Kate, 37, donned the £1,750 Alessandra Rich frock for her outing to a D-Day exhibition at Bletchley Park, the home of the Second World War codebreakers.
Social media users were quick to note Princess Diana owned a similar midi dress, which she wore for a photo call at Kensington Palace in 1985.
Several praised Kate for the subtle tribute to her late mother-in-law, while one said it proved ‘good taste never goes out of style’.
Another wrote: ‘I think it is a nice way to pay tribute to her mother in law she never got to meet.’
A third added: ‘I absolutely LOVE all the “subtle” tributes to Princess Diana. She was beautiful, kind and loved by many.’
Kate looked ready for spring in her flattering mid-length dress yesterday, which she previously wore for Prince Charles’ official 70th birthday portraits last year.
The frock features pretty white buttons and a vintage-inspired contrast collar and cuffs.
Following one of her favourite trends, Kate plumped for head-to-toe blue and paired the frock with a pair of £425 suede court shoes by Emmy London and a £450 navy Panama Purse by Smythson.
She finished the look with her signature bouncy blow-dry and a pair of delicate pearl drop earrings.
Princess Diana wore her take on the feminine look for photos taken in her living room at Kensington Palace in October 1985.
The series shows Diana, then 24, with her lady-in-waiting Anne Beckwith-Smith.
The princess styled her dress – which also featured a large white collar with slingback black and white heels and delicate stud earrings.
Kate’s Alessanda Rich dress is a favourite of celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker and Christie Brinkley.
It was notably seen on Meghan’s friend and former Suits co-star Abigail Spencer at the Sussexes’ wedding in May last year.
The same dress was the same number was later spotted on guests, including Sarah Jessica Parker, at some of the summer’s most glamorous events.
Kate’s younger sister Pippa Middleton also wore a custom baby blue version of the flattering crêpe de chine dress for nephew Prince Louis’ christening in July.
